<p>The <a title="Squatting Definition" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squatting" target="_blank"><strong>definition of Squatting for Wikipedia</strong></a> is</p>
<p><span style="color: #808080;"><em>Squatting consists of occupying an abandoned or unoccupied area of land and/or a building &#8211; usually residential &#8211; that the squatter does not own, rent or otherwise have lawful permission to use.</em></span></p>
<p>And in many european cities we saw a lot of <strong>abandoned place that were occupied</strong>, for personal living or as &#8220;TAZ&#8221; , Temporary Autonomous Zones in the famous &#8217;90 definition of Hakim Bay, better known  as<strong><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_center" target="_blank"> social centers</a> </strong>.</p>
<p>Writer-activist <strong>Naomi Klein</strong> says:</p>
<p><span style="color: #808080;"><em>&#8220;Social centres are abandoned buildings &#8211; warehouses, factories, military forts, schools &#8211; that have been occupied by squatters and transformed into cultural and political hubs, explicitly free from both the market, and from state control.&#8221;</em></span></p>
<p>And for a Real Life place, it&#8217;s clear.<br />
But what about of the idea of <strong>Occupy the Augmented Reality</strong> , where ALL the spaces are more or less abandoned or unoccupied or non-reclaimed?<br />
And sure, there are no laws or regolamentation, until now.</p>
<p>Lot of exciting possibilities flourish in our mind, first of all the power to &#8220;<strong>squat</strong>&#8221;  a book , a CD, a DVD,  and a place (geolocalising AR) or why not a person too, occupying it with our AR things: a critics, some thoughts, recensions, covers or whatever we will put on it as a new layer of content.</p>
<p>Think about a <strong>politician,</strong> what if, like in the cult movie They Lives, <strong>we could show the true reality of his lies</strong> thanks to AR ?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Di cosa parliamo quando parliamo di <strong>Augmented Reality</strong>?<br />
Bene, oggi siamo particolarmente felici di presentarvi un progetto AR che ci vede direttamente coinvolti: <strong><a href="http://spam-magazine.com/" target="_blank">Spam Magazine</a> </strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/spam_magazine_2012_cover.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1481" title="spam_magazine_2012_cover" src="http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/spam_magazine_2012_cover.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="893" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Lanciato in occasione dello <strong>IAB Forum</strong> a ottobre 2012,  <strong>Spam Magazine</strong> nasce come &#8220;<em>Il meglio del web salvato su carta&#8221;</em> un coraggiosissimo e geniale progetto di comunicazione scaturito dalla mente, il cuore e l&#8217;energia di  due creativi pubblicitari <strong> Federico Mirarchi e Roberto Piazza.</strong></p>
<p>Perchè lo definiamo <em>coraggiosissimo</em>? Bhe per almeno <strong>tre</strong> motivi:</p>
<p><strong>1)</strong> Per gettarsi in pieno <strong>2012-quasi-13</strong> in un progetto <strong>CARTACEO</strong>, ci vuole davvero un Cuor di Leone, e soprattuto una grande passione per la carta:  <em>&#8220;Perché noi, ancora oggi, preferiamo inserire un biglietto del bus tra le pagine di un libro a un click su “aggiungi a preferiti”. Preferiamo sfogliare una rivista piuttosto che scorrere con il cursore pagine che non possiamo voltare. Preferiamo addormentarci con un libro aperto in mano piuttosto che con un eBook acceso sul petto.&#8221;</em></p>
<p><strong>2)</strong> Coraggiosissimo perchè trattasi di <strong>Free Press</strong>, un settore nel quale anche grossi gruppi editoriali hanno avuto qualche non piccolo problemuccio.<br />
<strong>10.000 copie stampate</strong> e distribuite (per ora) su<strong> Milano</strong> in  <a href="http://www.spam-magazine.com/storelocator.htm" target="_blank">luoghi accuratamente selezionati</a>, (concept stores, ristoranti e trattorie, agenzie di comunicazione, cinema e teatri, librerie, musei e atenei universitari etc) non è certo poca cosa, e la decisione di lanciarsi a tempo pieno in questa avventura testimonia nei fatti il coraggio di cui sopra.</p>
<p><strong>3) </strong>Perchè <strong>Spam</strong> non solo è cartaceo  e free press, ma perché contemporaneamente si pone come <strong>&#8220;Il meglio del WEB salvato su carta&#8221;</strong>.<br />
E scusate se è poco:<br />
<em>&#8220;Ma allo stesso modo <strong>amiamo il web</strong>: informazioni, idee, contatti, raggiungibili in ogni momento da ogni parte del pianeta.&#8221;</em><br />
A prima vista potrebbe sembrare un obiettivo irraggiungibile, quello di distillare il meglio di qualcosa per sua natura infinito ed in costante divenire e racchiuderlo in angusti spazi fatti di carta.<br />
Naturalmente è un web filtrato dal gusto di due creativi di razza <strong><em>&#8220;Perché internet è un flusso continuo, infinito, dove spesso lavori degni di nota finiscono per perdersi, in un click.</em> </strong><em>Noi vogliamo fermare questo flusso selezionando ciò che ci piace e mettendolo nero su bianco, dandogli quella materialità che ancora ci affascina e che, per quanto utile, la rete non ha.&#8221;<br />
</em>E quindi argomenti taglio ed articoli sono di <strong>alta caratura</strong>: <em>&#8220;12 sezioni, elastiche e cangianti: attualità, arte, architettura&amp;design, cinema&amp;teatro, letteratura, musica, ambiente, fotografia, illustrazione&amp;grafica, multimedia, luoghi, a tavola.&#8221;<br />
</em>Un taglio di magazine a cui (purtroppo) non siamo molto abituati perfino in edicola e certamente inusuale per una free press, di profumo molto europeo e decisamente di alto profilo e target.<br />
Altro atto di estremo coraggio, con una diffusione (per ora) solo su Milano, nessuna concessione al local se non in qualche miratissimo e selezionatissimo sponsor.<br />
<strong>Ma il progetto Spam va moolto oltre</strong>, e si pone un obiettivo molto più esteso, quello che anche editori ben più grossi ancora non hanno nemmeno lontanamente iniziato ad affrontare (miopia?, incompetenza? ) quello di provare cioè a far <strong>dialogare web e carta</strong> in un circolo virtuso di feedback e di andate e ritorni: una sperimentazione forte, ancora non vista appunto neanche nell&#8217;editoria mainstream.</p>
<p><em>&#8220;Nell’epoca in cui le riviste passano dalla carta al digitale, noi passiamo dal digitale alla carta, restando però strettamente connessi al digitale: </em><br />
<em>per questo ci piace definire SPAM la prima rivista di “carta digitale”.</em><br />
<em>Siamo pazzi? Probabilmente sì. O, forse, semplicemente innamorati. &#8221;</em></p>
<p>Per ottenere tutto ciò, <strong>la prima soluzione scelta da <strong>Federico e Roberto</strong> è stata quella di usare <strong>i QR codes</strong>,</strong>  che non si limitassero però ad un semplice play di un video come normalmente succede qui in italia, ma che puntassero direttamente a articoli, foto, informazioni ovvero ai contents online descritti negli articoli stessi.<br />
<strong>Finalmente un uso intelligente e maturo dei QR</strong>! Ci è venuto spontaneamente da esclamare quando abbiamo visto il numero Zero di Spam <img src='http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':-D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Chi ci segue da tempo sa bene infatti come questo approccio sia per noi contiguo rispetto a tutto quello che stiamo ricercando, progettando,<a href="http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/2012/10/augmented-reality-books-realta-aumentate/"> scrivendo</a> ed <a href="https://www.facebook.com/iedmasterdigitalmedia" target="_blank">insegnando</a>  negli ultimi anni: così quando c&#8217;è stato l&#8217;incontro fra noi e Spam è venuto naturale iniziare una stretta collaborazione per progettare insieme lo step successivo per Spam: indovinate un po? <strong> esatto parliamo naturalmente di Realtà Aumentata.</strong></p>
<p>Personalmente l&#8217;idea e la sfida era quella di progettare <strong>un sistema di Augmented Reality che andasse oltre il &#8220;classico&#8221; ( classico, ehm, per noi ovviamente ) uso dell&#8217;AR nella stampa</strong>:  normalmente visti anche i costi produttivi per ora nell&#8217;editoria mainstream ci si è limitati, esattamente come nel caso dei Qr codes, a pochissime sperimentazioni dell&#8217;AR esclusivamente come gadget o divertissiment, orientate al wow effect e con quasi nessuna ricerca di una applicazione dell&#8217; Augmented anche in senso funzionale e d&#8217;uso.</p>
<p>Negli approcci osservati fino ad oggi ci si limitava a pochissimi elementi AR solo in copertina  (il videino mappato sulla pagina, il 3d anche complesso ma fine a se stesso, etc)  o in rari casi anche in un paio di paginette interne. Quasi tutti oltretutto one shots, ovvero con nessuna ricerca e sperimentazione protratta nel tempo.<br />
A distanza di diversi anni rimane per esempio ancora un riferimento e modello alto per sforzo produttivo orientato all&#8217;AR  il numero di <strong>Esquire</strong> del 2009 (<a href="http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/2009/10/augmented-reality-magazines-esquire-augmented-reality-issue/" target="_blank">ricordate? ne parlammo a suo tempo qui</a>) pur con un approccio essenzialmente ludico, il che è tutto dire visto che 3 anni in questo settore è un tempo infinito.</p>
<p>Con<strong> Spam</strong> si è deciso di dunque di andare oltre, anche per mettere alla prova e stressare davvero sul campo le potenzialità reali dell&#8217;AR: dopo il numero uno dove abbiamo sperimentato in segreto qualche piccola cosa,  nel numero in distribuzione dal 29 novembre <strong> la quasi totalità delle pagine della rivista sono state Augmentate</strong> (pagine degli sponsors comprese) con lo scopo di fornire  ai lettori non soltanto una ricca esperienza multisensoriale di fruizione che non fosse solo carta, che non fossero solo links o video,  ma anche un <strong>approccio funzionale e d&#8217;uso</strong> dove il multicanale, ci sia consentita  la parolaccia, fosse davvero tirato fino al massimo delle possibilità.</p>
<p>Uno studio dei<strong> format AR</strong> è stato dunque  necessario, così come un lavoro diretto di analisi e progettazione integrata sul <strong>content:</strong> ogni pagina rappresenta una esperienza ovviamente anche ludica dove è possibile certo fruire di <strong>animazioni inaspettate di foto e illustrazioni</strong> normalmente statiche, certo vedere  il <strong>video mappato direttamente sulla pagina </strong>come nei libri di Harry Potter , certo farsi sorprendere dal <strong>3d </strong>( il grattacielo più alto del mondo riesce a stare in una pagina di pochi centimetri?)<br />
O Sperimentare una doccia su carta, certo o meditare davanti a un buddha gigante dorato che emerge dalla carta e pagine sonorizzate, sommari animati, advertising che parlano, etc etc etc, certo, ci sono, e non pochi..  Tutte cose abbastanza normali.<br />

<p>Si si daccordo, ok, <strong>normali almeno per noi</strong>. <img src='http://www.augmentedadvertising.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':-D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Ma su<strong> Spam Magazine</strong> l&#8217;Augmented è stato studiato e progettato come si è detto con un approccio non solo ludico, ma funzionale: grazie all&#8217;AR si ha la possibilità di <strong>comprare con un click il libro di cui si sta leggendo la recensione</strong> , (carta e digital, ovvio) prenotare direttamente da dentro dalla pagina cartacea un <strong>biglietto aereo</strong> verso il luogo descritto, scaricare un app corrispondente al tema dell&#8217;articolo, o acquistare il<strong> biglietto di uno spettacolo teatrale nella  pagina di un sponsor</strong>.</p>
<p>Il tutto in modo molto <strong>naturale ed immediato</strong>, che come sempre per l&#8217;AR è più semplice sperimentare direttamente che descrivere.</p>

<p>La piattaforma di sviluppo scelta fra le diverse possibilità sul mercato è stata quella di <a href="http://www.aurasma.com" target="_blank">Aurasma,</a> che rispetto ai competitors ha molti vantaggi e potenzialità ma non è detto che non si potranno effettuare sperimentazioni parallele con altri sistemi, data la costante evoluzione dell&#8217;AR.</p>
<p>Lo vogliamo ricordare? <strong>Spam Magazine è una Free Press</strong>, che ora oltre al suo payoff standard <em>&#8220;<strong>il meglio del web salvato su carta&#8221;</strong></em> può da oggi giustamente vantarsi di essere <em><strong>&#8220;Il primo e unico Free Magazine tutto in AR&#8221;</strong></em></p>

Il <strong>Communication Strategies Lab (CSL)</strong>, dell&#8217;Università degli Studi di Firenze, Dipartimento di Scienze dell&#8217;Educazione e dei Processi Culturali e Formativi, è una comunità di docenti, studenti, ricercatori, professionisti di varia provenienza, costruita sui valori della ricerca, dell&#8217;innovazione, della creatività, ed è impegnato nell&#8217;ideazione, progettazione, sviluppo e monitoraggio di strategie di comunicazione per istituzioni, imprese e organizzazioni, pubbliche e private.</p>

<p><strong>Amir Baradaran</strong> è un artista &#8211; attivista di origine iraniane non nuovo alle incursioni ed alle sperimentazioni con l&#8217;Augmented Reality, basti pensare al suo <a href="http://www.amirbaradaran.com/ab_monalisa.php">Frenchising Mona Lisa</a> che grazie all&#8217; AR app Junaio, permetteva di <em>augmentare</em> qualsiasi immagine della Gioconda, (naturalmente anche e soprattuto quella al Louvre)</p>
<p>ed ancor più con il suo <a href="http://www.amirbaradaran.com/ab_futarism.php" target="_blank">FutARism Manifesto</a> <a href="http://www.amirbaradaran.com/ab_futarism.php"></a> dove si teorizza che l &#8220;Augmented Reality (AR) is employed as a new artistic medium&#8221;</p>
<p>L&#8217;ultima azione di <strong>Amir Baradaran</strong> è a <strong>Venezia</strong>, con installazioni (In)visibili sparse per la <a href="http://www.labiennale.org/en/art/exhibition/">54esima Biennale d&#8217;Arte</a> e fruibili grazie sempre all&#8217;app Junaio  ed al suo canale &#8220;Venice Augmented&#8221; o &#8220;Amir Baradaran&#8221;</p>

<p>&#8220;When in Venice for the 54th Biennale, search and discover media and performance artist Amir Baradaran&#8217;s new visible (in)visible project Venice Augmented, active surrounding many of Giardini di Castello and Arsenale pavilions from June 1 throughout the duration of the the Biennale.<br />
Using Augmented Reality (AR) as art, Amir Baradaran projects new meanings and movements onto the environment. As Baradaran states, &#8220;I am interested in how small acts of resistance, particularly within so-called virtual domains, can create pockets of transformation.  Seeking to generate much more than novel surprise, my art explores new ways of being.&#8221;<br />
Comprising a number of (un)seen attributes embedded throughout the docks and garden, Augmented Venice promises a landmark addition to the Biennale. Accessible to visiting publics through a number of activation points  scattered throughout the Venice landscape, the project is among the first Augmented Reality works to feature at the Biennale.<br />
Moving from previous projects using both graphic- and facial- recognition activators (also called &#8220;markers&#8221; or &#8220;points of interest&#8221;), Baradaran&#8217;s project for Venice pays homage to the city&#8217;s rich history of Classical portrait painting and avant-garde Italian Futurist Movement.  Venice Augmented builds on previous infiltration of the Louvre Museum in Paris with Frenchising Mona Lisa, and the New York City FutARism Manifesto performance.<br />
This year, Baradaran goes viral in Venice.&#8221;<br />
<strong>l&#8217;Arte Augmentata</strong> (vogliamo chiamarla <strong>AR-te</strong> ? ) sta iniziando a proporre interessanti sperimentazioni, e siamo sicuri ne vedremo ancora delle belle</p>

<p>In occasione del Festival della Creatività  che si svolgerà a Firenze dal 21 al 24 ottobre 2010, FFF organizza un  nuovo Urban Fruit con il primo esperimento di Realtà Visiva Aumentata:  &#8220;Più. Design per il cambiamento / More. Design for change&#8221;.  Sul tema della libertà di espressione (con tutte le nuove implicazioni  che questa comporta) un gruppo di graphic designer internazionali hanno  lavorato per costruire una specifica esperienza visiva su due dimensioni  parallele.</p>
<p><span>La mostra avrà inizio alle 15.00 a </span>&#8220;Le murate&#8221; (ex-carcere complesso delle Murate) via dell&#8217;Agnolo 1,<span> e durerà per tutta la durata del festival.<br />
